Nederland Farmers Market - Local Food Shares
Every other week during the growing season, the Nederland Farmers Market (NFM) holds market events that provide fresh produce, baked goods, meat, fish, crafts, and information about health services, along with entertainment, that draws a wide range of residents and visitors to downtown Nederland. In addition to providing goods and services, the Nederland Farmers Market has also developed a strong sense of community, providing a meeting place where diverse people can congregate, learn, and support each other’s ways of living.
In addition to our physical marketplace, NFM operates a Local Food Share program which aggregates fresh, nutrient dense produce grown on the front range and distributes to customers on a weekly basis.
MFP continued to fund the Local Food Share program in 2024 and 2025 to provide local produce shares at no cost to families that are facing food insecurity and who are in need of nutritional support. The program has been met with great enthusiasm from the team at Clinica, as demonstrated in the testimonials below.
Testimonials:
Clinica Mountain Clinics have had the amazing opportunity to receive food for our patients from the Nederland Farmers Market. These come in the form of bags of fresh food once a week we can give out to those who need it most. We have been able to give them to parents with small children, older adults who take care of families and folks who live solo. It allows us to “practice what we preach” and provide healthy food to our patients so they can have the tools they need to take control of their health.

Our mountain community has benefited tremendously from the farmers market food shares that have been provided to Clinica Family Health. Many of our patients do not have access or ability to get fresh fruits and vegetables. By providing these shares during clinic hours, we have eliminated the accessibility and transportation barriers, while providing healthy options for families that otherwise would not be able to afford fresh produce. Clinica strives to support patient’s health and overall wellbeing by prioritizing healthy choices, nutritional value and mental health and wellness. These food shares have opened many community members eyes to the farmers market and its health benefits. Clinica, and the collective mountain community, are so thankful and appreciative for these Farmers Market shares.

The Clinica Mountain Clinics have had the opportunity to give out farmer's market food share bags to our patients this summer. Each week we have picked up the food and distributed it to our patients that are in need of access to healthy foods. This program has been a fantastic addition to our clinic offerings. As healthcare workers, we are constantly talking to our patients about ways to improve their diets and work toward having habits that can help improve their health outcomes. Being able to not only speak about healthy habits but also stand behind it is a powerful way to reach people. Having the farmer's market shares not only supports the community and our patients, but the local growers as well. Please consider continuing this program in the future.

Clinica is committed to the well-being of its patients, not just through medical care but also by addressing their nutritional needs. In a recent initiative, the mountain clinics began receiving away fresh food from the Nederland Farmers Market to patients. This program ensures that individuals and families have access to wholesome, locally-sourced produce, promoting healthier lifestyles. By providing these nutritious foods, the partnership with Nederland Farmer’s Market and Clinica aims to support the overall health of its mountain community, reinforcing the importance of proper nutrition as a key component of patient care.
